Our Doctors

Since 2011, JC has been working with people from different age groups and diverse backgrounds, ranging from children to senior citizens, with the primary focus on adolescents, young and older adults. Believing that therapy is a collaborative process between psychologist and client that aims to facilitate change and improve quality of life, he strives to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment for his clients to explore their issues and feelings. He is also flexible to accommodate to his clients’ needs to bring out the best treatment outcome. While practicing an eclectic approach with the emphasis on cognitive-behavioral, humanistic and compassion-based skills, he aspires to be calm, genuine, attentive and compassionate to guide his clients in the therapeutic process to move towards recovery or achieve a better self.

JC has worked with clients on issues including depression, general anxiety, social anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), burnout, stress management, anger management, trauma, grief, self-esteem, relationships issues, difficult life transitions, special needs, and other mental health concerns. He is well trained in conducting psychotherapy and various psychological assessments. In the past, he has led and carried out a large-scale assessment project on the local security guards in Malaysia to screen their mental eligibility for gun equipment at work.

Personal life wise, JC incorporates the philosophies of detachment and stoicism to lead a peaceful and fulfilling life. Currently, he also enjoys supervising young clinical psychologist trainees, other than taking care of his plants and occasionally training for video game tournaments. JC speaks English, Malay and Chinese well.
